"Smart music" is a software that allows students to practice efficiently on their own by playing into a microphone and getting feedback and errors from the computer.

  1. Smart music is awesome! I just visited my old high school orchestra director and he has implemented this program in his classroom! It is pretty cool. He will assign a particular section for each instrument to work on based on its difficulty level and it assign it to them at the beginning of the week. By Friday, he has a bunch of e-mails with assignments from all of the students. I listened to a few of them while I was there. As the teacher, you are able to see where the student has had difficulty in their practice and also see how long they have worked on a particular section. I hope to use this program in my future classroom. It will definitely be a big help when I am creating lesson plans. I will have a clear understanding of what each individual needs help with, as well as what the group needs to work on as a whole.

  2. Smart Music is no doubt an excellent tool for music teachers and their students. Teachers can see what their students practiced, how long, etc.. The students also may think it is more enjoyable than just sitting at home practicing whatever they think they should. Students can use this software to great advantage and hopefully get great feedback to better improve their musical education!

  3. The utilization of smart music is a unique advancement for students and I aim to use this in my classroom one day. As Marisa stated, teachers are able to monitor their students progression and their overall development in musicality. As I wrote on my blog in regards to the music website musictheory.net, we can use these musical tools hand in hand to provide a valuable resource any student from a beginner to an advance user. There's always much to improve in the realm of music making. These two sources can undoubtedly get it done !
